Dear Friends, Several have asked me, “What is Tokens?” I don’t quite know how to put it into words myself, and I don’t know of anything to point to that will explain it. Part theology lecture, part cultural analysis, part old-time radio show, part good conversation, part good music; all of it serious, and all of it, for us at least, fun, and we trust it will be fun for you, too. We had a most enjoyable time recording our first two programs in Nashville on 19 February 2008 and 27 May 2008. Please make yourself at home and dig around on our web-site to see what we were up to. We're thankful for the opportunity to share with you what we've been working on. If you’d like to be notified of upcoming programs and developments, please sign up on our email list. Welcome! Lee Camp ![]() Tokens Episode 3: LATE SHOW Announced at 9pm! September 2, 2008, at Lipscomb University. 6:30pm and 9pm. Due to the high demand for tickets for "The Politics of Jesus," we are pleased to announce a late show at 9:00 p.m. on September 2. Click here to get your tickets. Our third episode of Tokens promises to be another great evening of music, theology, interviews and story-telling. Recorded before a live audience, "The Politics of Jesus" promises to talk about the two things everyone knows you're not supposed to talk about in polite company. Musical guests include Derek Webb, Buddy Greene, and Odessa Settles, accompanied by our Most Outstanding Sinai Mountain Boys (Jeff Taylor; Aubrey Haynie; Pete Huttlinger; Chris Brown; and Byron House), plus pre-recorded interviews with Jim Wallis, best-selling author of God's Politics and founder of Sojourners; Randall Balmer, professor of American religious history at Columbia University and author of God in the White House: A History; and Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw on their new book Jesus for President: Politics for Ordinary Radicals. And the Tokens Radio Players will be back cooking up no telling what fun with the presidential election just around the corner. Click here to get your tickets. What People Are Saying About Tokens "Tokens blends part of a tested formula with some unique elements ... Judging from the wildly enthusiastic audience reaction, I predict this "crazy idea" is gonna fly, folks." Read more at Wendy V's Nashville Blend. "... in addition to a great band, the show featured taped interviews with authors such as Brian McLaren, plus skits that were–I know this is hard to believe–actually funny. The show was a delight." Read more at The Rabbit Room. "As also last time, the music was spectacular ... For only a second show, "Tokens" has got it going on like a program that has been around for a while." Read more at Wendy V's Nashville Blend. Buddy Greene's performance of "Rise from the Ruins" in our premiere episode was given the title Song of the Day.
