Tokens on WSM, starting tonight

Fans of Tokens won’t have to wait until November to enjoy the show.

Beginning tonight, Sept. 22, WSM- 650 AM in Nashville will carry Tokens on its weekly schedule from 6-7 p.m. (CST) on Sundays and will be airing, in addition to radio, live online at wsmonline.com.

The weekly Tokens program will feature rebroadcasts of previous Tokens performances. In addition, WSM- 650 AM will also air a two-hour Tokens Thanksgiving special on Thanksgiving night and a one-hour Tokens Christmas special on Christmas night.

The Tokens show that will be featured on the Sept. 22 broadcast is the March 27, 2012, show that features the Lipscomb University A Cappella Singers, directed by Gary P. Wilson, along with singer-songwriter Suzy Bogguss and other special guests.

Tokens guests include performers, authors, activists and humorists. Past guests include Dailey & Vincent, Cherryholmes, Hal Holbrook, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Mary Gauthier, Keb Mo, Hubert Locke and Miroslav Volf among others.

Tokens boasts a house band, the Most Outstanding Horeb Mountain Boys, made up of some of the top musicians in Nashville. Led by music director Jeff Taylor, the band is comprised of fabled Nashville sidemen, Byron House, Pete Huttlinger, Aubrey Haynie, Chris Brown and Buddy Greene.  The Tokens Radio Players contribute the humor to each show with hilarious segments built around each show's social just topics.

The next live performance of Tokens is the Thanksgiving show, set for Nov. 24 at Ryman Auditorium. Vince Gill, Paul Franklin, Brother Preacher and Dawn Sears are the featured guests. Visit tokensshow.com/tickets for more.
